School visits 2026-2027: Meteora comes to life for students

For the 2026-2027 school year, Terra Immersia welcomes primary and secondary school classes, with a guided tour, the immersive room and interactive games on the walls.

For the 2026-2027 school year, Terra Immersia offers educational visits for primary and secondary school students. Children don’t just watch: they play and discover Meteora through History, Art, Science and the Activities the area has to offer.

What the visit includes

  • Exhibition space. A guided tour of the four themes, with the relief model of Meteora and the reconstruction of how the monks were lifted in a net. The tour comes with an activity booklet.
  • Floor game. An activity game for young and old.
  • Immersive room. Meteora comes to life around us, projected on four walls, while the floor responds to every step. A story of millions of years, from the formation of Meteora to the present day.
  • Interactive wall game. The walls become touch surfaces. Children solve puzzles in teams, touching the projection and moving from wall to wall.

For primary schools

The wall game adapts to the children’s age:

  • Years 1 and 2: “The Secret of Meteora”, with pictures, for children who are just learning to read.
  • Years 3 to 6: “The rock that became a home”. Guided by the Egyptian vulture, children learn how the rocks were formed, how water and wind shape them, and which animals and plants live on them.

The content links to environmental studies, geography and history.

For secondary schools

The exhibition touches on many school subjects. By arrangement, the tour can have a specific focus:

  • a general tour of the whole museum,
  • a tour focused on one of the four themes: History, Art, Science or Activities,
  • a tour focused on the new technologies used to create Terra Immersia’s digital media,
  • a visit with an art activity, based on the “Art” theme.

Practical information

  • The visit takes about 45 minutes and fits easily into a school trip to Meteora.
  • The immersive room holds 25 people. When two classes come together, one starts with the tour and the other in the room, and then they swap.
  • Cost: €5 per student. Accompanying teachers enter free.
  • The space is wheelchair accessible.
